Memory Care: Caregiver Resources

Memory Care Resources

Caregiving can require a great deal of energy and effort, regardless of the situation or memory care stage. This month, we focus on caregivers of those with dementia or memory loss, providing a quick-reference page of caregiver resources. While just a short initial list, and not intended as an endorsement, we hope these resources support you, no matter where you are in your caregiving journey.

National Institute on Aging

While Alzheimer’s isn’t the only memory loss condition we may confront in caregiving, this Alzheimer’s Caregiving content on the NIA website is a helpful overview for caregivers and could be of help in identifying areas of need. Visit www.nia.nih.gov

Alzheimer’s Association

This well-known association provides a vast amount of information for caregivers. Some helpful areas include sections specific to stages and behaviors. Visit www.alz.org

CMS.gov Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Some resources found here include links to training, articles, handouts, and research. Downloadable fact sheets provide information on many facets of memory care. Visit www.cms.gov

Dementia Friendly America

This national network of organizations and individuals supports communities in furthering accessibility for those with dementia and their caregivers. Pages here offer connection and toolkits, as well as a state-by-state list. Visit www.dfamerica.org

Calculating the Cost of a Senior Living Community

This is a helpful one-page list and additional downloadable calculator worksheet. Considering a new living environment? This is our own previously-published reference tool. Visit www.stoneypointmeadows.com
